Back to the Roots
Founded in 2020, Kochchi emerged as the pioneering force behind Sri Lankan street food in Scotland. The brainchild of Shehan and Suki, two food enthusiasts bonded by their shared Sri Lankan heritage and passion for authentic cuisine, Kochchi's inception traces back to their meeting in Glasgow in 2009. Inspired by their upbringing in traditional Sri Lankan home cooking and a deep-rooted love for street food culture, Shehan and Suki embarked on a mission to introduce Scotland to the exotic flavours of their homeland.

The journey began with converting a rice horse box into a vibrant trailer, marking Kochchi's humble beginnings as a mobile street food vendor. In 2021, Kochchi made its official debut, delighting crowds at festivals and events with delectable Sri Lankan delicacies. Notable highlights include catering to esteemed movie stars and crews from Batgirl and Good Omens.

Kochchi's commitment to excellence and innovation quickly gained recognition, earning prestigious accolades such as the Scottish Street Food People's Choice Awards and the British Street Food Spice Food Awards. Expanding its presence, Kochchi secured a coveted concession at Edinburgh's esteemed St James Quarter, housed within the renowned Bonnie and Wild Market Place, acclaimed as the UK's best food hall notable for featuring concessions run by celebrity chefs.
